Tlou River Camp

Tlou River Camp sits within a private concession bordering Kruger National Park, on land with no fences between the two — meaning the same elephant herds, lion prides, and leopards that move through Kruger wander freely across the reserve. The absence of a fence comes with a freedom public parks can’t offer: night drives, off-road tracking, and walking safaris led by armed, professionally trained rangers.

Ten thatched suites, each raised on stilts above the riverine bush, overlook a waterhole that draws a steady procession of wildlife through the day. The lodge’s open-sided lounge and infinity pool share the same view, so there’s rarely a reason to look away.

Evenings end at the boma — an open-air circle of fire and stone where dinner is served under stars, and rangers compare notes on the day’s tracking over a dram of something good.
